We are a small letterpress shop in the Olneyville mills of Providence. We set type, mix ink by hand, and print stationery, invitations, and short editions on presses that have been running for the better part of a century.
See the workEvery job begins at the stone — a line of metal or polymer type, locked into a chase, and a first pull that tells us whether the impression sits true.
Letterhead, cards, and correspondence sets printed on cotton stock, with blind deboss or edge paint to finish.
Wedding and event suites, set in metal or photopolymer, printed in one to three passes with hand-mixed colour.
Broadsides, chapbooks, and small print runs for writers, binders, and galleries across New England.
In the shop
Letterpress is not a fast way to print, and we have never pretended otherwise. A job is proofed on the press, adjusted, and pulled by hand. The marks of that process — the soft bite of the type, the slight unevenness of a hand-inked roller — are the reason people come to us rather than to a copy shop.
We keep a standing library of metal type, a Vandercook proof press, and two platen presses that do the daily work.
